Premier League previews - matchweek 23

A look ahead to the latest round of action in the top flight.

Monday January 15

Man Utd (2) v Stoke (18)

Man Utd team news: Antonio Valencia could return after being sidelined for almost a month with a hamstring injury. Ashley Young still has one match left to serve on his suspension while Eric Bailly (ankle) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (knee) are missing once again.

Jose Mourinho: “Zlatan Ibrahimovic is injured or is not totally happy with his condition. The date for him to be back to training with the team was around end of January, beginning of February, so let’s hope his feelings are better and we have him with us as soon as possible.”

Stoke team news: Erik Pieters and Bruno Martins Indi are available after respective hamstring and groin injuries. There may be a debut for right-back Moritz Bauer after his switch from Rubin Kazan to the Potters, who have had first-team coach Eddie Niedzwiecki in temporary charge since the sacking of boss Mark Hughes last weekend.

Kevin Russell: “We are trying to make sure the players are in the right frame of mind for the game on Monday, because going to Old Trafford is incredibly tough under any circumstances.”
